The highly anticipated spy action thriller web series Citadel: Honey Bunny has finally arrived for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. This web series, starring Samantha and Varun Dhawan in lead roles, has created a significant buzz among fans. Let’s see how much this web series directed by Raj & DK has impressed the audience in this review.
Story:
Set in the year 2000, the story follows Honey Mandakini, alias Honey (Samantha), who realizes that dangers lurk around her due to her past. However, her main goal is to save her daughter Nadia (Kashvi Majmudar). Baba (KK Menon) and his gang are chasing Honey. At the same time, Rahi Gambheer, alias Bunny (Varun Dhawan), is also searching for Honey. Who exactly is this Honey? Why is Baba’s gang after her? Why is Bunny looking for her? What is their relationship? Will Honey escape the dangers surrounding her? These questions will be answered as you watch the episodes in this web series.
Plus Points:
Samantha, who gained good recognition through her role in ‘The Family Man Season 2’, has now captivated audiences with ‘Citadel’. Her expressions as a mother trying to save her daughter and as a spy are exceptional.
Varun Dhawan also portrayed his role well. Sharing the screen with Samantha, Varun added more interest to the web series with good scenes.
In this series, Kashvi Majmudar, who played Samantha’s daughter, surprised the audience with her outstanding performance. The scenes she shared with Samantha catch the viewers’ attention. KK Menon, Sahid Saleem, and Soham Majmudar also engage well in their respective roles. It should be noted that the single-shot climax action sequence stood out as a highlight of this web series. Visually, it is also very appealing.
Minus Points:
Despite having many actors, the lack of an interesting story in ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ is a drawback. The story written by Raj & DK and Seetha R. Menon failed to captivate the audience as expected. The absence of engaging twists and weak dialogues also detracted from the web series.
It appears that the story fans expect from Raj & DK is missing here. The narration of this film is also not engaging, with the story frequently shifting between 1992 and 2000, which affected the flow of the series.
As a spy thriller, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, which came as a sequel to the popular series ‘Citadel’, failed to create suspense and tension. The design of KK Menon’s character does not impress at all. Simran’s character also feels somewhat mediocre, ultimately becoming a waste.
The action sequences fail to create thrill. Although the Indian version seems decent c
